Getting to/from JosĂ© MarĂa CĂłrdova (MDE) & Olaya Herrera (EOH) Airports
MedellĂn has two main airports:
- JosĂ© MarĂa CĂłrdova (MDE): Main international airport, located in Rionegro (~35 km from MedellĂn city center).
- Olaya Herrera (EOH): Domestic airport, situated within the city (~5 km from downtown MedellĂn).
Options from/to MDE (International):
- Taxi / Ride Apps
- Official airport taxis: COP 70,000–90,000 to city center.
- Didi, inDrive, Uber: App-based fares, often slightly cheaper but not legal. Passengers may be asked to sit in the front seat, and transit police may stop vehicles to verify compliance.
- Shuttle Services / Private Transfers
- Pre-booked vans or airport shuttles: ~$25–30 USD per person.
- Convenient for groups or those with lots of luggage.
- Budget Options
- Airport bus from San Diego Mall: ~COP 12,000–15,000, connects to city center.
- Shared taxis (“colectivos”): Slightly faster than the bus, ~COP 20,000–25,000 per person. Depart from the Texaco gas station near San Diego Mall. These taxis wait until they have 4 passengers before departing.
Options from/to EOH (Domestic):
- Taxi / Ride Apps
- Short ride to Poblado: COP 15,000–25,000.
- Apps are not legal, passengers may be asked to sit in the front seat, and transit police checks are possible.
- Metro + Bus
- Walk or take a short bus from the airport to Estadio Metro Station.
- Metro fare: COP 3,500.
